A new corner of BB á La Carte dedicated to healthy food and fitness!
I’ve been debating launching this new aspect of my blog for a little while now. I’m pretty sure every New Year, like many others, I add getting in shape to my list of resolutions. And, like many others, I usually go to the gym for a month and slowly lose motivation or stop going all together. I make excuses about my life and let it get in the way of me feeling happy about myself.
Well, not this year! This year I decided it was time to stop having resolutions and start having lifestyle changes. I decided to kick start my new healthy life by detoxing and cleansing, so I researched the best foods to do that with and came up with the recipe for Skinny Water.
Skinny water seriously helps with bloat and made me feel like I had a clean and fresh start! I still use it when I start to feel like I’m bloated, or retaining water! Next, I decided my workout routine needed a make over. I actually had been going to the gym very semi regularly, but it was very lack luster and with poor results. Then it dawned on me, I did the Tough Mudder in 2012, and if I can do that, I can do anything!!
For those of you who don’t know, the Tough Mudder is a 12.5 mile race, in Colorado it is up a mountain in Beaver Creek, and there are 25+ crazy obstacles! I was terrified to do it and didn’t even train for it but I made it through and let me tell you, it was one of the most amazing experiences ever! Not only going 12.5 miles all at once was not something I ever imagined I could do, but overcoming each obstacle meant overcoming fears! I’ve never felt so good about myself as when I crossed that finish line! I felt like if I could do that, I could do ANYTHING!!
So, on the beginning of this journey, I decided I always need to remind myself, I finished a Tough Mudder, so, of course I can run a mile, or two, or three! Because let’s be honest, you can do anything you put your mind to!
The hardest part about changing hasn’t been getting a gym routine, not that it’s been simple, but it’s been a lot easier than adjusting my diet. I enjoy healthy foods a lot, but I am also a true foodie at heart and love some very unhealthy foods too. So I want to dedicate this portion of the blog to tips and insights on things I’ve done to change physically, and mostly with recipes that are low calorie and healthy, but delicious enough to please a foodie’s appetite!
Of course, I do think that indulgence is allowed, everything in moderation, because it’s just not realistic for me to be a foodie and never again eat some of the foods I love. So, you will still see some real tasty, maybe not as healthy posts on BB á La Carte. But here my recipes will be definitely less than 500 calories per serving but just as delicious!
I have already seen changes in my body, and have shed some weight, but being that I am going for a life style change, it will be an ongoing journey! I’d also love to hear any questions, or tips and tricks that you have to contribute!
